Usually, provided the door is balanced and the new rail, controls, sensors, mounting, power, height, and garage layout are compatible. We inspect the complete system before recommending a replacement.
On most Genie openers, press and hold the program (learn) button on the motor head until its indicator light comes on, then press the remote button you want to use and follow the light prompts until the opener accepts it. The exact sequence depends on the opener and remote generation, so start with the model label on the motor head. Very old openers with a row of small DIP switches pair by copying that switch pattern into the remote. If a new remote still will not pair, we can test the receiver and match a compatible remote.
A Genie wireless keypad pairs with the opener through the same program button, and its PIN is set at the keypad itself. The steps differ by keypad model, which is printed inside the battery cover, so follow that model’s instructions. If the keypad lights up but the door does not respond, it has usually lost its pairing or needs a fresh battery.
